《高新庄人》一书中，我个人的经历和工作生涯说的不够，再写这本《高新庄人·续集》。《续集》恰恰是前一本书补充。前一本书限于篇幅无法尽述的精彩故事，这一次终于可以选出几个，介绍给读者。《续集》记述了高家逃亡到开封，最终定居于开封游梁祠东街后，这个家几十年的变迁。以及我这个逃亡地主子女的艰辛生活，挑水、割草、铡草、磨面的童年，运动中提心吊胆读完了大学的青年。工作之后，逃不过文化大革命，徒然半生受难，一个风华正茂、初学成才、走入社会不久的年轻人，就被这个社会扭曲了。我是中国这一代千百万知识分子的一员，当时都被称为'臭老九'--中国知识份子的'雅号'。周围很多人与我大同小异。《续集》讲述的故事，是我的亲历或发生在周围人身上的，全是真人、实名、真事。《续集》是对往事的片断回忆，并不是完整的回忆录。这是本人的历史记忆，事过境迁之后，透过茫茫烟云，穿越历史时空，对人物和事件的重新打量、追忆和叙述。以'实录'方式撰写。没有惊天动地的情节，只是实地记录下来。其中的悲欢离合和众多地主家庭以及地主的后代大同小异，沧海一泪而已。只不过我写的故事涵盖了1949 年后的整个历史时期。这样的纪实作品，尽管有强烈的个人感情色彩，但可为了解当代中国社会提供独特的见证。
