Dr. Russell was a theatrical man who wasa one man show. All of the lights in the church would be turned down (there were nowindows then) save one, this one over the pulpit. He would give a rousing sermon onhealing and the human potential (ironically he was a more Zorastrian-like the wiseman-than Anglican). He had a huge following in his heyday and this parish averaged500-700 on a Sunday during the 1950s.
