Dan (Chip) Kerr has finally come to terms with the loss of his brother in VietNam, and he is happy with his life and his job as the managing editor of the local paper. All is well despite Dan’s disapproval of his brother, the mayor’s, lifestyle. Dan tries his best to keep inflammatory stories about the mayor out of the paper. Despite inevitable gossip, Dan is successful, for the most part, in keeping the citizens of Coltonwood unaware of his brother’s antics until a scandal erupts which forces Dan to choose between his professional ethics and obligations and his loyalty to his brother.Dan’s struggles with job stress, his own mental wellbeing, and his need to hold his family together are threaded throughout the story.
