Am 3. Dezember 2021 wurde die China-Laos-Eisenbahnlinie Kunming-Vientiane eingeweiht, die den Graben zwischen China und Laos in eine offene, flache Straße verwandelt. Die Bahn mit einer Gesamtlänge von 1.035 Kilometern und einer Geschwindigkeit von 160 Kilometern pro Stunde wird von China finanziert, verwendet durchgehend chinesische Standards und ist direkt an das chinesische Eisenbahnnetz angeschlossen. Mit der China-Laos Kunming-Vientiane-Eisenbahn wird der Traum verwirklicht, Laos von einem 'Binnenland' in ein 'Land mit Landanschluss' zu verwandeln. Die China-Laos-Eisenbahn ist ein Versuch der für beide Seiten vorteilhaften Zusammenarbeit zwischen den beiden Ländern und ein Meilenstein in der Forschung für den qualitativ hochwertigen Bau von 'One Belt, One Road', der die tiefe Freundschaft zwischen China und Laos verbindet und die tiefe Bedeutung des Geistes der chinesisch-laotischen Schicksalsgemeinschaft durch praktische Maßnahmen interpretiert.
