Die Untersuchung zeigt, wie und unter welchen Bedingungen weltanschaulich gebundene Interessenverbände in der Lage sind, moralische Normen und ökonomische Interessen organisational zu vermitteln und dadurch zur politischen Vergesellschaftung von Berufsgruppen und Sozialstaatsklienten beizutragen. Betrachtet werden Verbände von Hausärzten, Krankenhausbeschäftigten, Behinderten und Hilfskassen-Genossenschaften, die sämtlich dem Umfeld der politischen Linken zugerechnet werden können. Ersichtlich wird, daß es sich bei diesen Verbänden um eine durch krisenträchtige Wandlungsprozesse bedrohte, zugleich aber in Anbetracht der gegenwärtigen gesellschafts- und sozialpolitischen Herausforderungen zunehmend wertvolle Ressource der Zivilgesellschaft handelt.
