Je nachdem, worauf man den Blick richtet und welche Perspektive man anlegt, eröffnen sich unterschiedliche körper- und wissenssoziologische Zugänge auf den oder die Körper der Anderen. In einer phänomenologisch-interaktionstheoretischen Perspektive ermöglicht der Körper des Anderen den Zugang zur anderen Person und ein wechselseitiges Verstehen. Hier wird die geteilte Körperlichkeit zur Grundlage oder zum Störfaktor der Herstellung und Aufrechterhaltung des gemeinsamen Alltagslebens. Als scheinbar ’natürliches Symbol’ kann der fremd gemachte Körper Anderer in gesellschaftsstruktureller Hinsicht jedoch auch dazu eingesetzt werden, diese geteilte Körperlichkeit zu verhindern.
