Die Ergebnisse der empirischen Untersuchung widersprechen gängigen Vermutungen über das Mediennutzungsverhalten der sogenannten 'Fernsehgeneration': Mit dem Fernsehen aufgewachsene Jahrgänge haben keine stärkere Affinität zu diesem Medium als die Jahrgänge vor ihnen. Zusammen mit entsprechenden Befunden für die Nutzung und Bewertung der Medien Tageszeitung und Radio liegt vielmehr die Schlußfolgerung nahe, daß die jüngeren Jahrgänge, die ja nicht nur mit dem Fernsehen, sondern mit vielen Medien und Freizeitaktivitäten aufgewachsen sind, alle tagesaktuellen Medien tendenziell seltener nutzen.
