Dieses Werk beschäftigt sich mit einem bislang eher unbekannten und wenig erforschten Thema. Im Mittelpunkt stehen die Auswirkungen des Reitsports auf die exekutiven Funktionen und die Entwicklung der Selbstregulationsfähigkeit. Es soll aufgezeigt werden, inwieweit sportliche Betätigung, besonders das Reiten, grundlegende Fördermöglichkeiten für die Verbesserung der exekutiven Funktionen bieten können. Sowohl die Funktionsweise und der Aufbau des Gehirns werden durchleuchtet, als auch der sportbasierte Trainingseffekt der exekutiven Funktionen. Im Vordergrund stehen dabei die Vorteile und Fördermöglichkeiten im Bereich des Pferdesports. Anhand einer quantitativen Datenerhebung wird abschließend der theoretische Input mit einer Stichprobe von 70 Probanden verglichen.
