Die Intensivierung der Produktion und der Einsatz von Technologie, die durch die industriellen Revolutionen gefördert wurden, haben den Zugang zum Verbrauch von Technologieprodukten erhöht. Im Hinblick auf die Bewältigung fester Abfälle, einschließlich Elektroschrott, hat Brasilien 2010 das Gesetz 12.305 umgesetzt, das die nationale Abfallpolitik festlegt und die Schaffung kommunaler Strategien ermöglicht. Die Gemeinde Campos dos Goytacazes hat ihre kommunale Politik für feste Abfälle 2011 mit dem Gesetz 8.232 eingeführt. Ziel dieser Studie ist es daher, die Dynamik der Ablagerung und Sammlung von Elektroschrott an den von der Gemeinde Campos dos Goytacazes festgelegten öffentlichen Stellen zu analysieren. Um das vorgeschlagene Ziel zu erreichen, wurde eine quantitative und qualitative Studie durchgeführt, in der die nationale und kommunale Gesetzgebung in Bezug auf Elektroschrott analysiert wurde. Außerdem wurden die Sammelstellen der Gemeinde besucht und Fragebögen über Google-Formulare an die Bevölkerung des Gemeindebezirks verteilt, wobei eine Schneeballmethode angewandt wurde. Die Arbeiten ergaben, dass die Sammelstellen für Elektroschrott in Campos dos Goytacazes erweitert werden müssen.
