Heutzutage wird in den Medien viel häufiger über Computerviren berichtet, da die Anzahl der Computerviren stark zunimmt und eine viel größere Bedrohung darstellt als je zuvor. Die Viren sind winzig und melden sich nicht. Daher gibt es keine Computersoftware, die alle Computerviren auf der Welt erkennen kann. Aus diesem Grund wurde dieses Buch erstellt. Es soll verdeutlichen, wie schwerwiegend die Auswirkungen von Computerviren auf Unternehmen tatsächlich sind und auf welche Weise Viren verschiedene Arten von Unternehmen beeinträchtigen können. Außerdem werden einige Vorschläge für den Umgang mit dem Problem unterbreitet. Dazu gehören drei Fallstudien, in denen erläutert wird, wie Computerviren drei Unternehmen (BT, British Gas und EPSRC) geschadet haben. Daraus werden allgemeine Schlussfolgerungen gezogen, wobei einige der Lehren hervorgehoben werden, die aus den Fallstudien gezogen werden können. Es ist zu hoffen, dass das Buch einen Einblick in solche Fragen gibt, die von Computerviren ausgehenden Bedrohungen aufzeigt und einige Möglichkeiten zur Minimierung der von ihnen verursachten Risiken aufzeigt.
