Alexander Meyer konzipiert eine aufgabenbasierte Förderdiagnose in Algebra, mit dem Ziel, eine Förderung zu entwerfen, in der die Diagnoseaufgabe in eine Lernaufgabe überführt wird. Die Lernaufgabe setzt dann basierend auf der Diagnose dort an, wo Schülerinnen und Schüler Ressourcen haben, und bietet gleichzeitig an jenen Stellen Hilfen an, an denen Schülerinnen und Schüler Lernbedarfe haben. Der Autor rekonstruiert auf Grundlage empirischer Daten Denkmuster, in denen typische Ressourcen und Defizite von Schülerinnen und Schülern zur Algebra zum Ausdruck kommen können. Diese Denkmuster können für die Gestaltung von diagnosebasierten Lernaufgaben als Leitlinie dienen und so einen Beitrag zur Standardisierung der Förderdiagnose in Algebra leisten.
