Ziel des Buches ist es, dem Leser einen Überblick über die verschiedenen Desktop-Systeme zu geben. Die wichtigsten Interaktionstechniken werden miteinander verglichen und bezüglich Ergonomie und Flexibilität beurteilt. Auch psychologische Aspekte werden berücksichtigt. Es werden beim Leser keine technischen Kenntnisse vorausgesetzt.
