Este livro apresenta um projeto de investigação que fornece uma explicação aprofundada, juntamente com razões específicas, sobre a importância do envolvimento dos pais na educação dos seus filhos. Ao refletir sobre as minhas experiências passadas e presentes como educador, descobri que os alunos que apresentam problemas de comportamento, falta de motivação para os trabalhos escolares e desinteresse começam a ter insucesso académico e a tornar-se marginalizados socialmente. Também observei que esses alunos têm muito pouco envolvimento dos pais na sua educação ou interesses educacionais. Estes alunos estão a ser privados do apoio externo, orientação e incentivo que vêm de dentro de casa. É um facto comprovado que o sucesso dos alunos está ligado ao envolvimento dos pais (Hinkle, 2011). Embora um grande número de pais não saiba como ajudar os seus filhos na educação, com orientação e apoio, eles podem envolver-se cada vez mais nas atividades de aprendizagem em casa e na escola e encontrar oportunidades para ensinar, ser modelos e guias para os seus filhos.
