Com o objetivo de preparar e modernizar o pessoal técnico do país para uma rápida industrialização e desenvolvimento nacional, uma das técnicas de desenvolvimento de recursos humanos mais bem sucedidas é o ensino e formação técnico-profissional (EFTP). A investigação do investigador sobre o declínio dos padrões de competências de prática artesanal nas instituições de ensino técnico e profissional baseou-se nesta premissa. O estudo analisou o contexto atual em que funciona o sistema nacional de ensino e formação técnico-profissional (EFTP), salientando a forma como a coordenação da demonstração de competências práticas com o ensino de procedimentos oficinais pode melhorar a aquisição de competências e a formação. Também analisou o impacto do declínio do desempenho dos alunos e a relação entre as indústrias e as instituições de formação. Como parte deste trabalho, foram adoptados questionários e entrevistas como principais instrumentos de recolha de dados. Os estudantes e os tutores dos institutos técnicos e profissionais selecionados foram inquiridos através de questionários, enquanto os diretores das instituições foram entrevistados.
