Inhaltsangabe:Einleitung: Das Unternehmen Würth ist Weltmarktführer für Montagetechnik und stellt z.B. Schrauben, Dübel, Werkzeuge, Beschläge und vieles mehr her. Die Unternehmensgruppe bestand 2004 aus 300 Gesellschaften in der ganzen Welt. Die größte Gesellschaft ist die Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG mit Sitz in Künzelsau. Von dem dort befindlichen Zentrallager aus werden die Gesellschaften der Unternehmensgruppe in der ganzen Welt mit Nachschub beliefert. Das Zentrallager hält ca. 70.000 Artikel im Sortiment, verfügt über mehr als 100.000 Palettenplätze und 70.000 Behälterstellplätze. Für den Nachschub der Gesellschaften benutzt Würth alle Transportarten, einschließlich der Luftfracht. Diese wird als strategische Versandart eingesetzt, um einen möglichst maximal hohen Servicegrad aufrecht zu erhalten. Um einen Lager-Leerstand zu verhindern und die Produkte überall auf der Welt zu jeder Zeit verfügbar zu haben, ohne jedoch hohe Bestände vor Ort halten zu müssen, ist die Luftfracht bei der Würth GmbH & Co. KG ein integraler Bestandteil der Logistik. In fast 50 Länder bestehen Luftverkehre, die das Unternehmen mittels Hellmann Logistics und ABX Logistics abwickelt. Nahezu 500 Sendungen pro Jahr mit einem durchschnittlichen Gewicht von 500 Kg pro Sendung werden vom Unternehmen Würth ab dem Flughafen Frankfurt / Main per Luftfracht verschickt, zuzüglich den Expressluftfrachten. Dies ist nur ein Beispiel für ein Unternehmen von vielen international tätigen Unternehmen, welche die Luftfracht zum Transport ihrer Güter auf Märkte in andere Länder oder Kontinente nutzen. In einer Pressemitteilung vom 02.10.2004 hieß es, dass das globale Luftfrachtaufkommen von DHL Danzas Air & Ocean, ein Logistiktochter-Unternehmen der Deutschen Post, von Anfang Januar 2004 bis Ende August 2004 um 23 Prozent gestiegen sei.
