Der Rosenkavalier, also known as The Rose-Bearer, is a comedic opera in three acts written by Hugo von Hofmannsthal in 1912. The story takes place in 18th-century Vienna and follows the complicated love triangle between the Marschallin, a married woman in her thirties, her young lover Octavian, and the handsome Count von Faninal.
