Der Märtyrer und Gelehrte El-Hadj Ali Mekki gilt als einer der Märtyrer der glorreichen algerischen Revolution, die 1,5 Millionen Märtyrer das Leben gekostet hat. Er studierte, Gott hab ihn selig, in der Zaouïa (Koranschule) der Ouled Cheikh Boudouad (Daoud Eddine), ging dann in die Zaouïa von Scheich Ben Ali Cherif in Djebel 'Chlatha', Akbou, und später in die von Scheich Mohamed Abou-El-kacem (El-Hamel), um islamisches Recht (Jurisprudenz) und Theologie (Monotheismus) zu studieren. Er erwarb einen Abschluss als Jurist, der sich auf Rechtsprechung und Monotheismus, insbesondere Erbschaftsangelegenheiten und religiöse Pflichten, spezialisierte, und arbeitete anschließend als Angestellter in der Dar Ouled Sidi Scheich Ben El Nadhir (Bousaada). Er arbeitete auch lange Zeit als Lehrer und rief zum Bau von Schulen auf, von denen einige mit seinen persönlichen Mitteln errichtet wurden. Er bereiste viele Teile des Landes und absolvierte 1935 die Pilgerfahrt.
