In dieser Arbeit soll die Rolle des Tourismus bei der Umgestaltung des Raums der Gemeinde São Luiz do Paraitinga anhand des Karnevals von Marchinhas untersucht werden. Grund für diese Arbeit ist die Besorgnis über den Verlust der touristischen Attraktivität, die das lokale immaterielle Kulturerbe für São Luiz do Paraitinga nach der Überschwemmung des Paraitinga-Flusses im Jahr 2010 darstellt. Das Hauptziel besteht darin, die wichtigsten Auswirkungen und Veränderungen zu verstehen, die dieses hydrologische und klimatische Phänomen auf die Feierlichkeiten und die Organisation des Karnevals von São Luiz do Paraitinga hatte, und zwar unter Berücksichtigung seiner Umstrukturierung, basierend auf einer explorativen Fallstudie.
