Inhaltsangabe:Einleitung: Seit dem Streik der Industriegewerkschaft Metall für die „35-Stunden-Woche“ im Jahre 1984 gewinnt die Diskussion über die Arbeitszeit immer mehr an Intensität. Während die Gewerkschaften eine Verkürzung der tariflichen Arbeitszeit für alle Beschäftigten fordern, verlangen die Arbeitgeberverbände eine stärkere Flexibilisierung der Arbeitszeiten. Einen Kompromiss, zumindest aus der Sicht der Arbeitnehmer, stellt die Teilzeitarbeit dar. Durch die vielfältigen Variationsmöglichkeiten, die die Teilzeitarbeit bietet, kann sie nicht nur an die betrieblichen Bedürfnisse, sondern auch an die Arbeitszeitwünsche der Arbeitnehmer angepasst werden. Da der Teilzeitarbeit aber auch sozial- und gesellschaftspolitische Bedeutung zukommt, stellt sie eine in jeder Hinsicht hochinteressante Möglichkeit dar, die Arbeitszeit zu variieren. In der bankbetriebswirtschaftlichen Literatur haben jedoch die geschäftspolitischen Möglichkeiten des Einsatzes von Teilzeitkräften in Kreditinstituten in der Vergangenheit kaum Beachtung gefunden. In der vorliegenden Arbeit stelle ich deshalb, unter anderem angeregt von Herrn Prof. Oskar Betsch, die vielfältigen Möglichkeiten der Teilzeitarbeit aus betrieblicher Sicht dar. Da es sich bei Kreditinstituten um sehr personalintensive Unternehmen handelt, habe ich auch im Hinblick auf den Wertewandel sowie die gesellschaftspolitischen Veränderungen der Zeit dem Kapitel „Arbeitszeitwünsche der Mitarbeiter“ relativ großen Platz eingeräumt. Gerne hätte ich die Arbeit mit mehr aktuellen Praxisbeispielen, Erfahrungswerten etc. unterlegt, um so ein besseres Bild über die momentane Beschäftigungssituation von Teilzeitkräften aufzeigen zu können. Aus diesem Grund habe ich die verschiedenen Banken-Verbände und Großbanken angeschrieben, um aktuelle Informationen anzufordern. Durch die Vielzahl deutscher Kreditinstitute erhoffte ich mir so (ohne eine empirische Erhebung durchzuführen) ein relativ „flächendeckendes Bild“ über den momentanen
