Infolge der Verabschiedung der pluralistischen Verfassung der Republik Mosambik im Jahr 1990 und des Pressegesetzes im Jahr 1991 sind mehrere vom Staat unabhängige Medienorganisationen entstanden. In diesem Buch wird daher die Rolle der Medien bei der Förderung der Bürgerbeteiligung in der Stadt Nampula untersucht. In diesem Zusammenhang wurden die in dieser Stadt tätigen Medien untersucht, wobei der Schwerpunkt auf Radio, Fernsehen und Zeitungen lag.
