Ziel dieser Arbeit war die Durchführung einer Studie über die Umweltbedingungen der ständigen Schutzgebiete (Permanent Preservation Areas, PPA) im Teileinzugsgebiet Córrego do Marimbondo in der Gemeinde Jales (SP) unter Verwendung von Fernerkundungstechniken und auf der Grundlage der brasilianischen Umweltgesetzgebung, des Forstgesetzes, Bundesgesetz Nr. 12.651/2012. Dauerhafte Schutzgebiete sind untrennbar mit der Verbesserung der Wassermenge und -qualität in Quellgebieten und entlang von Gewässern auf ländlichen Grundstücken verbunden. Zu diesem Zweck wurden auch Studien über das „neue' Forstgesetzbuch im Vergleich zum alten Gesetzbuch, Bundesgesetz Nr. 4.771/1965, und die Beobachtung seiner Anwendung im Teileinzugsgebiet sowie die Durchführung einer Simulation durchgeführt. Die Ergebnisse dieser Untersuchung haben gezeigt, dass es notwendig ist, direkte Maßnahmen zur Durchsetzung des Forstgesetzes zu ergreifen, da dieses wasserwirtschaftliche Instrument in Brasilien für die Gewährleistung einer nachhaltigen Landnutzung und Bewirtschaftung der Bodenbedeckung verantwortlich ist, was sich direkt auf die Wasserproduktion und insbesondere auf die öffentliche Versorgung auswirkt.
