Ikigai verfolgt einen sinnzentrierten Ansatz (purpose-driven) und geht von der These aus, dass die Kernmotivation des Menschen die Suche nach Sinn ist.Das Buch legt die theoretische Grundlage für eine umfassende individuelle und organisationale Ikigai-Betrachtung, indem es Ikigai als japanische Lebensphilosophie beschreibt und auf Basis der originären Logotherapie Ikigai für den nicht-japanischen Kulturraum erschließt. Die Notwendigkeit eines Purpose-Driven-View wird erläutert und das individuelle Ikigai wird als Blaupause auf den organisationalen Kontext übertragen. Die vier zentralen Stellhebel eines organisationalen Ikigai werden beschrieben und die theoretischen Grundlagen für eine Transformation zu einer purpose-driven Organisation werden dargelegt.
