Welche Merkmale sprechen dafür, welche dagegen - und gibt es vielleicht Unterschiede zwischen den Klöstern, je nach Ausrichtung?In der vorliegenden Hausarbeit wird Erving Goffmans Definition der 'totalen Institution' als Diskussionsgrundlage herangezogen, um das Klosterleben in einem Orden als Mönch oder Nonne näher zu betrachten. Dabei werden die Definitionsmerkmale totalen Institution mit den dem Kloster eigenen Regeln und Vorschriften verglichen, Parallelen gezogen - aber auch deutliche Unterschiede entdeckt.
