Este libro es una incursión en el archivo de los testimonios sobre la violencia política ocurrida en el Perú entre los años 1980 y 2000, material fundamental y poco estudiado hasta la fecha. El archivo está constituido principalmente por los casi 17 000 testimonios que recopiló la Comisión de la Verdad y Reconciliación (2001-2003), disponibles al público en el Centro de Información para la Memoria Colectiva y los Derechos Humanos de la Defensoría del Pueblo. Estos testimonios constituyen un espacio único para conocer las versiones no escuchadas sobre esta época de nuestra historia, pues son narrativas de nuestro pasado que en gran medida no han sido incorporadas a nuestra memoria colectiva. Una lectura cuidadosa y exhaustiva de los testimonios de este archivo, desde una perspectiva interdisciplinaria y en diálogo con el pensamiento teórico contemporáneo, permite que los autores de esta compilación de ensayos nos ofrezcan herramientas valiosas para una reflexión crítica sobre nuestra historia reciente y sus complejos vínculos con la situación actual.
