Introdução: Este trabalho calcula os custos dos serviços prestados num laboratório adoptando o método ABC e a estrutura escolhida como exemplo é o laboratório de bioquímica do hospital Aristide Le Dantec em Dakar (Senegal). Resumo: No tratamento de pacientes, as análises médicas são provas essenciais para confirmar um diagnóstico. No Senegal, em 2005, e de acordo com as Contas Nacionais da Saúde, as despesas médicas biológicas foram estimadas em 4,5 biliões de francos CFA. Ao contrário dos medicamentos, muito poucos estudos foram realizados para avaliar o custo dos actos de biologia médica no tratamento dos pacientes. Foi por esta razão que decidimos determinar o custo destes actos realizados no laboratório de Bioquímica do Hospital Aristide Le Dantec, em Dakar, Senegal (hospital de referência nacional). Este estudo foi efectuado durante um período de três (3) meses. Trata-se de um estudo transversal retrospetivo com um objetivo analítico sobre o cálculo do custo dos exames de Bioquímica. O método utilizado é o método ABC baseado na identificação de todas as actividades para a determinação dos custos dos produtos. O alvo foi o diretor da administração do hospital.
