Le concept de culture a traversé différentes décennies et significations, allant de la culture de quelque chose à un synonyme de civilisations développées. Cependant, les guerres armées et littéraires ont rendu ce concept un peu plus large. Ainsi, avec le développement des études anthropologiques, nous avons finalement obtenu un sens très complet pour la culture : l’ensemble de la production de l’humanité. Une certaine résistance à cette définition de la part des élites a incité un groupe appelé le Centre d’étude de la culture contemporaine à développer les Cultural Studies. Comprenant l’éducation physique comme une production de l’humanité, il s’agit, à travers une revue historique, de comprendre comment les arènes culturelles agissent sur notre objet d’étude.
