La critica di architettura in questo testo è intesa come uno studio. Non viene prima, o dopo il progetto: essa è proposta come la struttura operativa di base per l’architetto. Attraverso la critica come studium l’architetto è finalmente libero di concentrarsi sulle questioni spaziali del progetto, liberandosi dalla relazione forma-ideologia e dalla condanna ad essere l’esecutore silenzioso delle richieste del cliente. La critica come studium non è una proiezione per il futuro di una professione più consapevole dell’architetto esecutore; è in realtà il preambolo per la ricongiunzione con il suo antico predecessore oramai perduto: l’architetto come intellettuale.
