O impacto do investimento direto estrangeiro no crescimento económico e no emprego na RDC de 1990 a 2014, na era da globalização, em que se assiste a uma explosão do IDE, motor da multinacionalização das empresas. Os principais motivos destes investimentos são obviamente a redução dos custos (custos de mão de obra, otimização fiscal, etc.), mas também a procura de economias ligadas aos grandes mercados e a conquista de novos mercados. Os efeitos positivos do IDE sobre o crescimento económico e o consequente aumento do emprego nos países de acolhimento foram confirmados por numerosos estudos empíricos.
