Considerando as falhas na utilização de táticas únicas em programas de controlo de mosquitos, torna-se imperativo explorar uma combinação de métodos (guppy e larvicidas) de forma compatível contra espécies de larvas de mosquitos. O perfil toxicológico dos larvicidas comumente usados, nomeadamente actellic, spinosad e clorpirifós, foi avaliado usando um conjunto de biomarcadores para obter concentrações compatíveis que seriam usadas em conjunto com um agente de controlo biológico: Poecilia reticulata para regular a população de mosquitos na densidade estabelecida de peixes para alimentação de larvas. Os resultados mostram que a abordagem integrada é viável e melhor do que o uso de uma única tática apenas quando certos fatores, como tamanho do recipiente, densidade de alimentação do predador à presa, larvicida apropriado e concentração, são considerados.
