Il presente studio esamina le dinamiche spazio-temporali della pesca industriale nel Parco Nazionale Marino Manyange na Elombo-Campo (PNMMNEC), una zona marina protetta di recente istituzione in Camerun. Per evidenziare la persistenza della pesca illegale in quest’area, nonostante la sua protezione ufficiale dal 2021, sono stati utilizzati strumenti e materiali metodologici quali Global Fishing Watch, Marine Traffic, i registri delle licenze di pesca e le segnalazioni della comunità. L’obiettivo principale dello studio è valutare la presenza e l’attività di pesca tra il 2018 e il 2024, distinguendo il periodo precedente e quello successivo alla creazione del parco. I risultati indicano che si è verificata una riduzione del numero totale di pescherecci dopo l’istituzione del PNMMNEC, ma un aumento qualitativo delle attività dei pescherecci industriali, in particolare con 37,8 giorni di sforzo di pesca nel 2021, 51,6 giorni nel 2022 e 114 giorni nel 2023.
