Le aziende e i loro dipendenti si affidano alle tecnologie informatiche (IT) e a Internet per condurre le loro attività e le loro comunicazioni. Questo offre molti vantaggi, ma introduce anche rischi legati alla sicurezza delle informazioni. Il presente studio ha cercato di affrontare le sfide della sicurezza informatica in concomitanza con l’adozione di programmi BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) e la mancanza di consapevolezza da parte degli utenti delle relative best practice. È stato utilizzato un disegno di ricerca qualitativo di tipo case study. I responsabili IT sono stati intervistati per esplorare il nuovo tema del BYOD e le sue implicazioni per la sicurezza informatica. Le questioni più importanti per la sicurezza delle informazioni sono le politiche di sicurezza, la consapevolezza e la formazione degli utenti BYOD, l’applicazione delle politiche di sicurezza organizzative, l’efficacia dei manager nel proteggere i dati e l’accettazione e l’adesione degli utenti alle politiche di sicurezza BYOD. Sebbene l’BYOD sia preferito da molti utenti e offra anche molti vantaggi, non lo è dalla maggior parte dei responsabili della sicurezza informatica.
