Esta recopilación de documentos confesionales nos ofrece la oportunidad de ver la unidad teológica profunda que se manifestaba en el protestantismo durante los primeros siglos de su existencia. Pero, al mismo tiempo, nos permite valorar los aspectos controversiales y la diversidad presentes dentro de la teología protestante. Para los reformadores y sus seguidores, ser protestante y, más aún, ser reformado, significaba en esencia ser confesional.Este texto es el segundo de una serie de seis volúmenes que recoge numerosas confesiones reformadas de los siglos 16 y 17. Muchos de estos textos se presentan por primera vez en el idioma de Cervantes, proporcionando al mundo hispanohablante una visión más amplia y completa del nacimiento y evolución de la teología reformada durante estos siglos fundacionales. Además, se incluyen resúmenes esenciales de la doctrina reformada de este período. Cada declaración confesional está precedida por una detallada introducción que aporta el contexto histórico y teológico. Las confesiones están dispuestas en orden cronológico, y este segundo volumen incluye veintiséis documentos que comprenden los años 1549-1560. 10
