O objetivo geral desta investigação é analisar o desempenho da VAWT com deflectores de vento e otimizar a eficiência da turbina eólica e criar uma turbina eólica que possa funcionar em qualquer área. Sabe-se que a potência do vento é proporcional à potência cúbica da velocidade do vento que se aproxima de uma turbina eólica. Isto significa que mesmo uma pequena aceleração do vento provoca um grande aumento da produção de energia. O sistema proposto de deflectores a montante gerará uma grande separação atrás de si, onde uma região de muito baixa pressão parece atrair mais vento em comparação com uma turbina eólica sem deflectores. Devido a este efeito, o fluxo que chega aos deflectores será efetivamente concentrado e acelerado.
