Alguns novos complexos de metais de transição da primeira linha de base de Schiff obtidos a partir de sulfonamida e benzil foram preparados e caracterizados com base em espectroscopia UV-Vis, dados espectrais IR, estudos de absorção atómica e medições condutométricas. Verificou-se que o ligante era bidentado e estudos de absorção atómica revelaram a configuração [M(L)2.(Cl)2] para todos os complexos, em que dois grupos cloro estão ligados aos quinto e sexto sítios de coordenação do metal. Medições condutométricas sugeriram a natureza eletrolítica de todos os complexos metálicos. O ligante, bem como os seus complexos com Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II) e Cr(III), foram avaliados quanto à sua atividade antibacteriana in vitro contra algumas espécies bacterianas, como E. coli, Mycobacterium Smegmatis e Pseubomans Aeuroginosa. Verificou-se que as atividades antibacterianas ocorriam para a base de Schiff e complexos de metais de transição.
