Questo studio si propone di indagare le azioni della biblioteca scolastica dell’Istituto Federale di Bahia (IFBA) in termini di stimolo alla ricerca e di sviluppo della competenza informativa. La ricerca è partita da una domanda centrale: la ricerca scolastica è un’attività che dovrebbe essere guidata sia dagli insegnanti che dai bibliotecari, i quali dovrebbero introdurre pratiche di competenza informativa nella vita quotidiana delle biblioteche scolastiche, formando gli studenti alle abilità di localizzare le informazioni in vari media e di combinare queste informazioni in un testo coerente. I dati sono stati ottenuti attraverso l’osservazione diretta nelle biblioteche e questionari semi-strutturati. I risultati della ricerca mostrano che bibliotecari e insegnanti, lavorando insieme, possono offrire opportunità di apprendimento per la competenza informativa nel processo di ricerca scolastica nelle biblioteche dell’Istituto, mentre la mancanza di questa cooperazione rende la biblioteca un luogo passivo all’interno del contesto scolastico.
