É necessário examinar muitos aspectos da tecnologia, como os métodos de impressão, os factores que afectam a adoção da tecnologia e a revisão da literatura na primeira secção. A segunda secção deste livro é a metodologia de investigação. Foi utilizada uma amostragem intencional para selecionar uma amostra de 11 empresas, das quais 10 aceitaram participar no inquérito. Os dados foram recolhidos através de questionários enviados por correio eletrónico a 10 empresas. Os dados recolhidos foram analisados descritivamente através de percentagens e médias. Os dados analisados foram apresentados sob a forma de tabelas e gráficos. 75% das empresas adoptaram a impressão 3D a partir de 2008.
