Questo studio analizza il ruolo dei media radiotelevisivi nella mobilitazione delle donne per la partecipazione politica, con un focus su ASKiNG RADiO 98.5 SPEED FM Makurdi nello Stato del Benue, in Nigeria, in Africa. Lo studio è stato motivato dallo scarso tasso di partecipazione politica femminile in Nigeria. Utilizzando un metodo di progettazione descrittivo, sono state utilizzate fonti primarie (questionari, interviste, osservazioni) e secondarie (libri, letteratura). È stata selezionata una popolazione campione di 5.500 persone attraverso un campionamento casuale e una dimensione del campione di 110 persone è stata determinata utilizzando un campionamento sistematico. L’analisi dei dati ha utilizzato la procedura statistica del chi-quadro per testare le ipotesi, rivelando un impatto positivo dei media radiotelevisivi sulla partecipazione politica delle donne. Tuttavia, lo studio ha rilevato delle carenze nella promozione dell’uguaglianza di genere in politica. Ha sottolineato l’importanza delle capacità intellettuali rispetto all’energia fisica in politica e ha raccomandato campagne di sensibilizzazione di base per cambiare la percezione negativa e incoraggiare un maggior numero di donne a cercare posizioni elettive.
