La cooperazione scientifica in Brasile nel campo della Scienza dell’Informazione è l’oggetto di questo studio, e per misurare la collaborazione scientifica è stato condotto uno studio sulla produzione di articoli in riviste scientifiche con Qualis A1: Perspectives in Information Science, Information & Society: studies e TransInformation, dal 2010 al 2014. Per la successiva analisi qualitativa sono stati utilizzati metodi quantitativi. I metodi bibliometrici hanno valutato la produzione bibliografica degli articoli per identificare la paternità, oltre a informazioni aggiuntive sull’autore, il Paese di origine, il tipo di paternità, se l’autore è un ricercatore o uno studente e l’istituzione a cui era affiliato durante il periodo di pubblicazione dell’articolo. Il metodo della Social Network Analysis (SNA) ha strutturato i risultati quantitativi per mappare le reti di co-autorialità e di collaborazione scientifica. L’uso degli attributi ha contribuito a definire e identificare le caratteristiche studiate: il primo autore, le regioni del Brasile che si sono distinte nelle pubblicazioni e le relazioni di paternità condivise in ogni pubblicazione, e le istituzioni degli autori.
