Ciencia y poder en Cuba. Racismo, homofobia, nación pretende establecer un mapa de las relaciones entre ciencia y poder en Cuba desde finales del siglo XVIII hasta 1970. Para ello, el autor acomete una genealogía de la figura del “anormal” que supone a la vez un lúcido ydetallado análisis de los contextos, discursos y prácticas que modelaron al “individuo peligroso” en una sociedad sumamente compleja como la cubana. Marqués de Armas divide el libro en tres partes (El hombre/mujer; De la esclavitud a la nación y El nudo de la higiene) ricamente interrelacionadas entre ellas, así como con las fuentes primarias que incluye a manera de archivo, algunas muy poco conocidas.
