L’objectif principal de ce travail est d’examiner les systèmes de l’industrie mondiale du commerce qui exacerbent la souffrance dans les pays en développement, en particulier celle des femmes pauvres. Une approche critique est adoptée à l’égard des divers mouvements qui ont vu le jour pour contrer les inégalités de l’industrie. L’attention est également attirée sur la capacité limitée des espaces juridiques traditionnels à actualiser les droits des masses opprimées. Par conséquent, en tant qu’avocats contemporains, nous devons envisager les possibilités d’action qui peuvent se situer en dehors des notions traditionnelles de développement afin de réaliser les droits sociaux et économiques des exploités. Alors que la mondialisation continue de rompre avec les formations archaïques du pouvoir, du droit et du capital, il n’y a jamais eu de moment plus propice pour imaginer de nouveaux modèles de développement entièrement axés sur l’émancipation des masses opprimées de l’ordre systématique de la souffrance.
