Das Buch ist das Ergebnis einer Doktorarbeit, in deren Rahmen eine große Anzahl von Cestodenparasiten aus Süßwasser- und Meeresfischen sowie Vögeln aus Mumbai (Arabisches Meer, Westküste Indiens), Aurangabad, Paithan (Godavari-Fluss) und Kolhapur in Maharashtra gesammelt wurden. Das Buch besteht aus zwei Teilen, von denen sich der erste mit den Cestoden von Fischen der Ordnungen Pseudophyllidea, Proteocephalidea/Tetraphyllidea und Lecanicephalidea befasst. Der zweite Teil behandelt die Cestoden von Vögeln der Ordnungen Uavaineidea, Anoplocephalidea, Hymenolepididea und Dilepididea. Die in diesem Buch beschriebenen Cestoden gehören zu neun Familien mit 18 Gattungen und 25 Arten in 25 Kapiteln. Eine neue Art von Amoebotaenia, eine neue Art von Cotyiorhipis als erster Nachweis aus Indien, eine neue Art von Lateriporus, zwei neue Arten von Neoliga, eine neue Art von Suresnla und eine neue Art von Valipora als erster Nachweis aus Indien werden aus der Ordnung Dilepididae beschrieben.
