The purpose of this book is to bring into light the significance and importance of “voice” in regard to a celebrity’s identity. It adds onto his/her persona. Therefore, “voice” must be protected. It has been discussed using various legislations, Intellectual Property Regime and Tort Law in various jurisdictions like the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and India. Further, by the method of elimination it has been determined how “voice” cannot be protected within the ambit of the mentioned legislations. Later on it has been argued using valid case laws and arguments how publicity rights is the solution to this as “voice” is just as distinctive as a celebrity’s face. In conclusion, this research work determines how “voice” cannot be protected under the existing traditional Intellectual Property regime; therefore the scope of publicity law must expand.
