-----------------------------------------------Written in Simplified Chinese.A teenager leaves China alone to attend high school in the United States. There are textbooks for the coursework and guides for the college applications. There is almost nothing on the question the family actually loses sleep over: how does a fifteen-year-old survive, and do well, in a place whose rules nobody has explained?Eight chapters cover choosing and vetting a school, arriving and settling in, how American grading and classroom expectations actually work, safety and the lines that must not be crossed, physical and mental health, making friends and finding a place, and a full chapter addressed to parents.Chapter 4 is the heart of the book. It starts from a principle international families often learn too late: in the United States a single incident can trigger three separate layers of consequence, school discipline, the law, and immigration status, and being a minor is not an exemption. Alcohol, cannabis, fights, jokes that read as threats, social media, academic integrity, and what to say if police stop you are each handled the same way: where the line sits, how to stay clear of it, and who to turn to if something has already happened.More than twenty case boxes are drawn from real categories of situation but written only as generic outlines, with no names, schools, cities or dates.Where the material varies by state or changes over time, the book gives principles and verification paths rather than fixed answers. This book shares experience and general knowledge. It is not legal, immigration, medical, or mental health advice.
