Le rapport interdigital, c’est-à-dire le rapport entre la longueur de l’index et celle de l’annulaire, sert de marqueur biologique du taux de testostérone prénatal. Étant donné que ce rapport est lié au statut et au rang professionnels et sociaux, on peut supposer qu’il permet également d’expliquer certaines décisions et certains comportements économiques. La recherche met souvent en évidence un lien entre le rapport de longueur des doigts et des comportements économiques tels que l’altruisme, la coopération, la capacité à différer la gratification et l’aversion au risque. Ce travail a réalisé pour la première fois une méta-analyse de la littérature existante. Vingt études ont établi un lien entre le rapport de longueur des doigts et un ou plusieurs des comportements économiques mentionnés ci-dessus. La partie empirique présente les résultats de l’effet global, des effets individuels, du biais de publication, des analyses de sous-groupes et des analyses de métarégression de ces vingt études. En conclusion, les résultats sont interprétés et discutés de manière critique, et des perspectives pour la recherche future dans ce domaine sont présentées.
