Este livro foi inspirado pelo amor do autor por cavalos e pela sua vontade de compreender como a relação entre cavalos e seres humanos se desenvolveu em diferentes partes do mundo. Cavalos no Império Assírio baseia-se nos relevos dos palácios assírios como principal fonte de evidência para estudar sistematicamente como os cavalos eram usados de acordo com essas representações naquele tempo e espaço. Embora a maioria das publicações tenha abordado o tema dos cavalos assírios e reconhecido o seu uso militar, ainda sabemos muito pouco sobre o seu papel mais amplo e a sua importância no Império Assírio. Este livro tem como objetivo preencher essas lacunas. Os relevos neste livro são estudados cronologicamente e de acordo com uma tipologia definida. Esta metodologia, que se revelou eficaz no estudo de relevos, aliada ao conhecimento da autora sobre cavalos, permitirá um estudo aprofundado e algumas conclusões muito perspicazes.
