C-reactive protein is a highly conserved plasma protein and a preferred marker for diabetes. High sensitivity CRP is associated with insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome and type2 diabetes. High level of CRP is associated with indices of metabolic syndrome that include obesity, hypertriglyceridemia, low HDL, hypertension and high blood pressure.
