This work contains abstracts of entries found in Bucks County Orphan’s Court dockets through 1852. Surname index is by Orphans’ Court file number. Includes the guardian accounts-which is of great genealogical interest, listing heirs of the decedent and ages of children. Minors above the age of 14 were entitled to make their own petitions for guardians in Pennsylvania. Each entry in this work contains the Orphans Court file number, the name of the decedent, place of residence or death, date of death and occupation when given, dates of court petitions through to 1852 and summaries of those petitions. Researchers should note that prior to 1752, the dates recorded in court dockets are Julian (Old Style Calendar). The surname index combines common alternate spellings.
