The man was large with a horrible painted face, he had a blonde beard that was flecked with grey and red blood from earlier victims. He lunged at her with his sword. She was off guard and could not prevent the attack. He drove the wide sharp sword into her unprotected belly, showing no sign of pity. The sword ripped upwards to slice her insides. There was no chance for Godelief to even strike another blow in return. She never made any sound of pain, other than a heavy sigh of breath as the life started to leave her. She fell to the floor and grabbed Bryn’s hand, turning her head to look into his eyes and look on his face one last time, and she pleaded to Bryn, 'Avenge me, my darling boy'. Then, light gone from her eyes, she was dead, Bryn, stared with a horrified tearful glare and he saw the life fade and she was no longer his loving mother she was gone for ever, her eyes already misting over.

Paul Keller is the Stephen Dedalus of the piece, the son of Robert and Sylvie, whose internal monologue is spliced into the action, and whose incestuous feelings for his sister lead to an increase in his...
