O presente livro descreve uma breve introdução aos líquidos iônicos. [DBU][Ac] sintetizado através da reação de neutralização simples de quantidades molares iguais de DBU e ácido acético sob ultrassonicação. O PEG-DIL foi preparado pela reação do PEG-600 com 1-butilimidazol. A síntese do PEG-DIL foi dividida em duas etapas. A primeira etapa envolve a síntese de PEG-600-OSO2CH3 através de uma reação de PEG600 com cloreto de metanossulfonilo e a segunda etapa foi uma substituição nucleofílica entre PEG600-OSO2CH3 e 1-butilimidazol para gerar o líquido iónico dicatiónico funcionalizado com PEG desejado. Caracterização de [DBU][Ac] e PEG-DIL por dados espectroscópicos de RMN.
