Lo studio è stato condotto presso il Dipartimento di Biochimica e il Dipartimento di Ostetricia e Ginecologia, Pt. B.D. Sharma PGIMS, Rohtak, India. I livelli sierici di IL-6, TNF-α e TGF-β sono stati analizzati nel siero e nel sangue del cordone ombelicale di 20 gestanti normotese (gruppo I) e di 20 gestanti con preeclampsia (gruppo II). Il riscontro di elevati livelli sierici di IL-6, TNF-α e TGF-β nelle donne preeclamptiche (sia nel sangue materno che in quello del cordone ombelicale) suggerisce un ruolo certo della risposta infiammatoria nella patogenesi della preeclampsia e, pertanto, può essere utile nella diagnosi delle pazienti con preeclampsia e nell’identificazione del futuro rischio cardiovascolare. Gli agenti antinfiammatori possono essere utilizzati nella gestione della preeclampsia.
